The Intellectual Property (IP) Manager is responsible for managing and adminstering Archer Well Services’ IP assets, including trademarks, copyrights, patents, and trade secrets. The role is to be the internal first point of contact for IP matters, provides internal support and direction, consolidates and maintains Archer Well Services’ IP portfolio, manages training and is the focal point towards the external IP service providers.
Key responsibilities
- IP Portfolio Management:
- Consolidation of IP Portfolio through collaboration with external IP law firms / patent attorneys
- Liaise with external IP firms / patent attorneys and support processes for patent maintenance fees and retirements
- Develop and implement processes and systems for protecting, managing and planning the company's IP portfolio.
- Support management of IP portfolio in alignment with strategy
- IP Research and Analysis:
- Support project and product development teams on the process of obtaining FTOs, support in determining patentability and patent applications
- Collaborate with external IP law firms / patent attorneys to ensure monitoring of competitor IP portfolios, patent families, and identify potential infringement risks.
- Training and Education:
- Organize training sessions and workshops for employees on IP best practices, policies, and compliance.
- Raise awareness about IP protection strategies and risks within the organization.
- Enforcement
- Monitor and support enforcement of IP rights, including trademarks, copyrights, patents, and trade secrets.
- Drive processes for development of standardized public presentations and protection of sensitive material especially during the Field Trialing and Commercialization phases
- Support Archer Legal Counsel and external IP Law firms in IP litigation matters
- Liaise with Archer Legal Counsel on IP matters
- Support Management and/or Legal Counsel on IP related Due Dilligence
- Facilitate and support Archer’s IP Taskforce and IP Steering Committee including planning, preparation, execution and follow up
- Promote and safeguard the company`s vision and values
- Other projects as assigned
Limits of authority
The Intellectual Property (IP) Manager reports directly to the Global Director Engineering, Technology & Sustaining
As delegated by the EVP Well Services and according to Authority Matrix for Archer.
Full responsibility for all activities within the philosophies and constraints laid out in the job description.

Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelors/Master education preferably in directions of IP, law, or business
- Or Bachelors/Masters in Engineering with the ambition to develop in the world of IP
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years experience in similar role
- Experience working with or managing an Intellectual Property (patent applications/portfolio management/enforcement) is a big plus
- Preferably experience working in the Oil / Gas Industry
- Excellent research, analytical, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
